Famously part of the Ordrupgaard Collection and now at the Royal Academy is Delacroix's 1838 portrait of George Sand. (In the very early days of Persephone we were going to reprint a George Sand novel  – can't remember which one – it's a pity in a way that we never did and maybe we should revive the idea; the problem is that her life, and especially her life with Chopin, is so incredibly interesting that the novels can't quite compete.)
