The question of which marmalade recipe to use can be a vexed one, as preferences regarding peel and flavour vary greatly. There are also debates about the best approach to adopt: simmering the whole fruit before slicing, or slicing before softening the peel as in Making Marmalade by Honor Jolliffe, a local Bath artist. Handed-down or shared recipes are often the best or, alternatively, this is a classic method.
