Etheldreda Laing, who is the subject of this week’s Persephone Post, was born in 1872 and studied drawing in Cambridge. In 1899 she and her husband moved to Bury Knowle House in Headington, Oxford and she took up photography. She built a dark room and started using the Autochrome colour process when it became available in 1907. These are her daughters Janet and Iris in c. 1914.
