The 1920s were the high point of Dod Procter's career. She became an overnight sensation when her painting Morning (1926) was named picture of the year at the Royal Academy in 1927. It was then was bought by the Daily Mail for the nation and given to the Tate Gallery. Despite the impact this painting had, and in an all-too-familiar story, it is not actually on display.
