The Evelyn Dunbar drawings in Gardeners’ Choice are superb; the exhibition in Chichester a revelation; the pictures in the ‘selling exhibition’ in the shop beautiful; but nothing compares with the extraordinary, unforgettable and totally original paintings Evelyn Dunbar did during the war when she was an official War Artist. We have had some of the paintings in the Biannually and on the Post over the years. But really one cannot see them too often. So, any excuse, this week on the Post: five of Evelyn Dunbar’s wartime paintings. Convalescent Nurses Making Camouflage Nets 1941 is at the Imperial War Museum.
