It's odd if you think what a turbulent and traumatic life Shostakovich led that we listen to Jazz Suite No.1 to cheer ourselves up. (Which is much needed in the UK today as it's predicted there will be a huge second wave of Covid this winter. The universal cry from everyone is 'when can I have my old life back?' Well apparently not any time soon.)
