This week on the Post it's hats. It is not so long ago that hats were part of everyone's daily wear, from the plain and ordinary to the fancy and extraordinary. They appear throughout Persephone novels and indeed the whole plot of Miss Ranskill Comes Home hinges on the fact Miss Ranskill's is swept overboard when attempting to save her hat - "a silly little pull-on felt" - from the sea. This is actress Margot Grahame wearing a felt beret 1935 (perhaps a little more glamorous than Miss Ranskill).
