Tea in the afternoon has long punctuated millions of people's days as a way to break from work, socialise, recover from outings, shopping or chores, or to pass time before a train as in Brief Encounter. The Bloomsbury group were strict observers of afternoon tea and Virginia Woolf's diaries record many a tea taken by the fire with muffins or toast and, often, a famous guest. The final painting this week is Tea Time (1923) by W. Savage Cooper (1861-1943).
