Just before Christmas on the Post we had a lovely painting by Lovis Corinth (1858-1925), a German painter who was new to us. This week we have five more, starting with Christmas Presents (1915) which illustrates how he belongs both to the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. He was influenced by the Impressionists, Manet in particular, but was also a forerunner of the Expressionists.
