Woman by a Goldfish Tank (1911, The Belvedere, Vienna) is crammed with objects and potential meanings and narratives. It was shown at the 2021 exhibition at the Belvedere. The catalogue explains that Lovis Corinth is a conundrum. "His artistic work equates to what might be called a leap into modernism: beginning in the 19th century.
