There are just a few paintings by Lovis Corinth in the UK, including this fine portrait of Carl Ludwig Elias, Aged 7 1/4 (1899)  in Leicester Museum and Art Gallery. It highlights once again the importance of our provincial art galleries and the many gems in their collections. Even better, Leicester Art Gallery, like many others, has free entry, and on a recent late Saturday afternoon was full of visitors, young and old.
