This week on the Post we have Edwin La Dell (1914-70): painter, lithographer, and teacher. He was born in Coventry, and educated at Sheffield School of Art and the Royal College of Art where he was taught by Barnett Freedman and John Nash. An influential figure in the development of post-war printmaking, he promoted it as an affordable art form at in a time of austerity, and his work encapsulate the period's distinctive colourful, loose, lively illustrative style often with unusual perspectives, as seen here in Essex Field (1951, available from Emma Mason).
