Josef Frank (1865-1967) who is regarded as one of the most important Swedish designers, was in his fifties when he fled Austria for Sweden. There, working for Svenskt Tenn, he created a large number of often extravagantly large fabric designs which celebrate foliage, flowers, fruit, and the natural world, such as 'Aralia' (above'. Frank developed his own style of "modernism where values like comfort,,,and a wealth of colour were at its core", and he regarded "tubular steel furniture as a threat to humanity."
