This is the Siesta chair, now regarded as an iconic Norwegian design. It was designed in 1965 by Ingmar Relling (1920-2002), several of whose Siesta chairs are in the National Museum in Oslo. President Jimmy Carter bought sixteen Siesta chairs for the White House, and the more can be found in many permanent collections, including the V&A.
