There is currently a sale of work by Evelyn Dunbar (1906-60) at Modern British Art. It is mostly sketches, doodles, scribbles, drawings, and 'workings out', like this 'Illustration for a Farm Dictionary', with its lovely, very typical ED palette. She is one of our favourite artists and was highly prolific; it is very fortunate that so much of her fascinating preparatory work has been kept.
