Bromley House Library, on Angel Row in the centre of Nottingham, was founded in 1816. It has a number of reading rooms spread over three floors of a townhouse built in 1752, an elegant spiral staircase, and one of two walled gardens which remain in the city. Its collection includes the library from the holiday cottage of Nottingham-born Alan Sillitoe (1928-2010), and that of the  British Sundial Society.
