Although Clarice Cliff is primarily associated with her bright, hand-painted "Bizarre" designs, she also experimented with glazes and created many innovative, deeply coloured effects. This Japanese-influenced cup and saucer features the 'Inspiration Caprice' design (c.1929-31) and, like many more Clarice Cliff pieces, is in the V&A collection.
