A door handle for Valentine's Day. The heart is one of CFA Voysey's (1857-1941) trademarks; as this article notes, it was "...cut into windows and shutters, formed into hinges and brackets of every house he built. He was a prolific designer who shaped and styled [his] houses...down to the last detail." This simple, sturdy, hand-made handle with no moving parts to jam or annoy, was ideally suited to the busy cottage hospital for which he designed it. Winsford Cottage Hospital (1900), now in the care of The Landmark Trust, and has been restored beautifully, down to the very last door handle.
