Fair Isle has been enjoying another moment, with retailers and designers such as Toast, Molly Goddard, and Mati Ventrillon (above) offering beautiful but often pricey modern versions. Nevertheless, nothing beats a hand-made Fair Isle vest, tam or pair of mittens. The best yarns are sold by Jamiesons and Jamieson & Smith, and there are plenty of excellent patterns available on Ravelry or in books by Alice Starmore, Marie Wallin, and Mati Ventrillon (the last two also sell kits).
