If you are lucky you can find damsons in a local market or on a friend's prolific tree, but sadly they are not as popular as they once were. Yet they make a wonderful jam which sets easily, and are excellent in crumbles. Grace Ayson and Hughie O'Donoghue designed the 'Damson Tree' window (2018) which is in the cloisters in Canterbury Cathedral. It commemorates Richard Oldfield who made damson jam each year using fruit from the tree in his garden. There is also a Damson Tree trial panel in the Stained Glass Museum.
