This week on the Post we have Cryséde, the short-lived but influential textile company founded in 1920 by silk manufacturer and artist Alec Walker (1889-1964) in Newlyn, Cornwall. Walker produced fresh, bright designs on silk fabric using the woodblock hand-printing process, as above in the Cryséde Island works in St Ives in the 1930s. Examples of original designs, samples, and garments can be seen in the Cryséde exhibition now on at the Royal Cornwall Museum in Truro.
