So far this week we have considered female artists who painted in Newlyn at the same time as their husbands. But Rose Hilton (1931-2019) who trained as a painter and went to the Royal College of Art, was only able to paint freely once her husband, Roger Hilton (1911-1975), who insisted that there could be only one artist in the relationship, had died. She then took a studio  (above, 2008) and flourished, thus continuing the story of artists and painting in Newlyn.
