This week on the Post we look at domestic chores in summer, tasks which are somehow lifted out of the ordinary and made more pleasurable by the season. We begin with a lovely image by Carl Larsson, Shelling Peas (1908), a good way to do very little, really, while still being productive. It’s gentle, easy and can be shared,  done in the kitchen, on a doorstep or balcony, or in the garden. It's just a shame that it is now often difficult to find good quantities of very fresh peas in their pods to shell.
